Message From the Business Manager

President Biden’s State of the Union address was a breath of fresh air for many Americans. After four years of chaos and division under the previous administration, it was refreshing to hear a leader speak with empathy, honesty, and optimism. President Biden delivered his speech with conviction and clarity, outlining his plans for rebuilding America in the wake of multiple crises.

The economic crisis caused by the pandemic was another major issue that President Biden addressed in his speech. He highlighted how his administration has created millions of good-paying jobs, resulting in an all-time low unemployment rate nationally. Wages have also increased, and inflation has decreased from 9% to 3%. This is a remarkable feat considering the dire state of the economy just a year ago. President Biden's policies, such as the CHIPS and Science Act, Inflation Reduction Act, and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, have played a crucial role in reviving American manufacturing and rebuilding the country with good-paying LIUNA jobs.

One cannot deny that President Biden has faced numerous challenges since taking office. From navigating through a global pandemic to addressing economic turmoil and threats to democracy, he has had his plate full. But instead of shying away from these challenges, he tackled them head-on and delivered results that have positively impacted the lives of Americans.

During his State of the Union address, President Biden acknowledged the severity of the pandemic and its impact on American lives. He praised the efforts made by healthcare workers, scientists, and everyday citizens in fighting against COVID-19. The administration's swift action in ramping up vaccine distribution has led to over 200 million doses being administered in just 100 days, and the country is on track to achieve herd immunity by the end of summer. This achievement alone is a testament to President Biden's leadership and his commitment to putting American lives first.

President Biden also took on issues that are often considered taboo in politics. He called out his predecessor and other Republicans for their promise to pass a national ban on reproductive rights. He vowed to make Roe v. Wade the law of the land once again, sending a strong message that women's rights will be protected under his administration.

In addition to addressing domestic issues, President Biden also addressed foreign policy matters in his speech. He spoke about Russia and Ukraine and condemned the January 6th attack on the Capitol as an attempt to stop the peaceful transition of power after a fair election. This was arguably one of the most significant threats to American democracy since the Civil War, and President Biden made it clear that such actions will not be tolerated.

Despite facing constant opposition from Republicans, President Biden has been able to achieve significant progress in his first 100 days in office. He has lowered the cost of prescription drugs and is protecting Medicare while also ensuring that billionaires pay their fair share of taxes. His administration's focus on addressing climate change through renewable energy production is a crucial step towards creating a sustainable future for all Americans.

President Biden ended his speech on a hopeful note, stating that he sees a future for all Americans and a country for all Americans. His message was clear – we cannot go back to the dark place that Trump brought us to ever again. President Biden's leadership has given Americans a sense of hope and optimism, something that was lacking in the previous administration.

In conclusion, President Biden's State of the Union address was a powerful reminder of what true leadership looks like. He has shown his ability to navigate through crises with empathy, honesty, and determination. His policies have already made a positive impact on American lives, and he continues to push for progress despite facing constant opposition. As we move forward, let us remember President Biden's words – "there is nothing we can't do if we do it together." America is back on track, and the future looks bright under President Biden's leadership.

Stay Healthy and safe!
